220 m of additional ISPS-Secured Quay Capacity

With the ongoing increase in offshore activities in the North Sea, the Port of Thyboron has in recent years experienced growing demand for ISPS-secured quay facilities. More and more offshore supply vessels and SOVs (Service Operation Vessels) are choosing to call the Port of Thyboron.

In addition, no fewer than three offshore shipping companies are based in Thyboron – including the seabed contractor JD Contractor A/S, which regularly uses the port for its large vessels such as Detector, Boulder, Vina, and Assister.

To ensure sufficient space for all, Thyborøn Port’s ISPS-secured quay capacity has been expanded by an additional 220 metres of ISPS quay in the southern section of Nordsøkaj in 2025.

What does this mean for the port?

  • An additional 220 metres of ISPS-secured quay capacity for vessels requiring a minimum water depth of 8.80 m in the inner harbour.

  • Increased flexibility, as Nordsøkaj can accommodate large SOVs while cargo operations are simultaneously handled in the large areas of the Southern part of the Port.

While the Port of Thyboron is expanding its ISPS-secured quay capacity by 220 metres in 2025. At the same time, Nordsøkaj remains a multi-purpose quay: the large pelagic fishing vessels will continue to have access to the quay facilities.

This expansion increases the potential to receive more vessels, generate greater activity, and provide the many maritime service companies in the area with even better opportunities to carry out repairs and service on large vessels.

We hope everyone will welcome this new initiative – a step that strengthens the port’s development and ensures that we can continue to be an attractive base for both fishing and offshore operations.
