Thyborøn Nordsøral (TNR) relies heavily on two types of vessel: dredgers and freighters. On 1 September 2015, Group De Cloedt acquired “Sand Harrier”, a 2,500-m3 dredger, now renamed “DC Ostend”. The ship is destined to serve Thyborøn and the group's other sites in Denmark. Having acquired this vessel, Thyborøn Nordsøral is, for the first time in its history, no longer dependent on external suppliers. This is significant in a market where ship capacity is a limited resource.
Nordsøral's mining area is about 20 nautical miles from Thyborøn. A round trip, i.e. dredging, sailing to Thyborøn, unloading and returning to the mining area, takes about 20 hours.
TNR also delivers aggregates to a number of clients in Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. We use our own dredger to sail directly to the client in the south or we use “DC Eems”, the group's 4,750-ton freighter. If necessary, we charter a freighter from a third party. Our ships also deliver to the group's remaining locations in Copenhagen, Vordingborg, Nakskov and Kalundborg.
