Thyboron Port constitutes new board of directors with focus on long-term development and local growth
With a reappointed chairman and two new political leaders, Thyboron Port sets a clear course for continued growth and local job creation at a decisive moment for the port’s development.
At its meeting on 29 January, the Port’s board of directors reconstituted with continuity at the top and two new members joining for the next four-year term.
Karl Kristian Bro continues as chairman. The newly elected mayor of Lemvig Municipality, Jens Lønberg, has been appointed vice chairman. Two new board members join the existing board: Jens Lønberg and Chris Olesen, vice mayor of Lemvig Municipality, consultant Danish Puljefiskeri and former director of the Thyboron Port´s Fishing Association. All former board members continue for another four-year period.
The new board brings together long-standing industry experience and strengthened political representation. The two new members underline the importance of the ongoing development of Thyboron Port’s infrastructure and services as a foundation for attracting businesses and creating jobs in the local area. Their role reinforces the political perspective in the board’s work and supports the port’s long-term development.
Looking ahead, Karl Kristian Bro points to strong momentum at the port, including continued activity within offshore wind energy following investments in heavy-duty quays and increased water depth. Further quay construction, additional storage and manufacturing areas, and deeper waters are planned as part of the port’s future development.
Jens Lønberg states: “It is with great respect and humility that I take my seat at this table as a new member of the board of Thyborøn Port. One thing stands out very clearly in the port´s history: the rapid development that has shaped both the port and the entire region. But what perhaps impresses me most is the port’s ability to adapt. The agility that has enabled the port not only to rely on fisheries —both for consumption and industry — but also to succeed in developing into a modern, diverse commercial port with cargo, floating dock, stone and gravel, wind turbines, and everything else that is still on the way. That truly is a strength.”
The board of directors reflects a broad mix of industry and political experience, representing sectors such as cargo logistics, offshore wind energy and seabed work, fishing, manufacturing, and construction machinery. The Port’s purpose remains clear: to provide strong infrastructure and reliable services for offshore wind projects, maritime industries, fishing, cargo handling, shipyards, and a wide range of local service companies. Profits are reinvested in port facilities that support sustainable growth and benefit the surrounding community.
The board of directors of Thyboron Port now consists of:
Karl Kristian Bro (chairman), Jens Lønberg (vice chairman), Erik Flyvholm, Chris Olesen, Susanne Nicolaisen, Alfred Fisker, Rasmus Normann Andersen, Steen Bitsch, and Jan From - from Vestas.
Three takeaways:
- Thyboron Port maintains strong continuity with experienced leadership at the top.
- New political members strengthen the link between port development, job creation, and local priorities.
- Ongoing infrastructure investments remain central to supporting industry and the local community.
